Although I picked up a 20/1 place to jump into 2nd in the table, the fact of the matter is that we need to be picking winners or Joey Gamble will be even more annoying at the festival than he normally is. Following Eddie's revelation that he wont be joining me on a jolly to Lanzerote barring a miracle I have been planning all the ways I can get into Moaty's good books to be the next in line to the Crown Bar.
If we had decided to pick other sports I surely would be fairing a bit better as JJ's brother decided to win the golf for me at 10/1 which would have put me bang in with a chance of this. But as it stands I am trying not to be as big a loser as JJ and Billy.
JOEY GAMBLE - BALLYANDY - 3.35 NEWBURY - 9/2 Win
Knowing that he has this competition by the balls Joey can afford to be risk averse. After subjecting us to a ropey Chris Eubank impression and verbally abusing his own Dad this week about how he was going to slap him about the place come Cheltenham Joey has reverted back to type. When asked about his reasoning Joey simply replied 'Easy Winner Bang Bang'
BILLY BRIDLE - NATIVE RIVER & DE NAME ESCAPES ME - 28/1 Double
Billy continues his shocker and continues to throw in mental doubles. considering he can't even pick one horse to win let alone two at the same time this is seriously car crash punting. He reminds me of JJ at Aspers casino borrowing cash all over the gaff to try and chase his losses and we all know how that turned out. His reasoning interesting and shows real insight 'Because I am f*cking desperate' Yes you are Billy, yes indeed you are.
MARKET MOVER - CLYNE - 3.35 NEWBURY - 7/1
After my little win I feel confident that I can peg Joey back........ who am I kidding? I still haven't had a first past the post in 13 weeks so I doubt I will start a little run going. Stranger things have happened though, JJ has been after timing less recently which shows anything can happen. My horse loves the soft ground and is due to go up 5lbs so I think 7/1 is a very decent price. Just hope he turns up
JJ THE JETPLANE - SUPER SAM & HIGH BRIDGE - 7/1 DOUBLE
The Jetplane has moved into the semi final of our fantasy football cup so is feeling particularly cocky this week. This is even in spite of watching his other brother An finish 6th in the Phoenix Open when he backed him to 5 places. We aren't normally this bad at punting....honest, but JJ's demise is the biggest surprise of all to be fair. He normally is pretty shrewd around this time of year, although it is half term next week so chances are he will perk up a bit. So what do you do when you are in trouble? You take the double!!!
EDDIE CASINO - MOVEWITHTHETIMES 3.35 NEWBURY - 11/2
Following the bombshell that there will be no bombay induced Lanza nights for Eddie in a few weeks he is obviously building up to something big. Sadly at the moment we don't know if that something is a big winner or if it is a big meltdown as he ends up breaking into the winners enclosure at Cheltenham and tries to ride Thistlecrack into the sunset. He has deployed interesting tactics this week by joining Joey and Billy in the same race. He says 'I backed it earlier in the week and I may aswell go all in and lose my money and get another loser in this'
